Have you ever been on an airplane and heard the saying “put your own oxygen mask on first?” Taking care of yourself is the most UNSELFISH thing you can do, because you simply can’t pour from an empty cup.
When you don’t have to spend your time and energy worrying about your health or when your next anxiety attack will happen, you are a better partner, parent, friend, and colleague. By putting yourself first, you increase your capacity to truly be of service to others and to operate at your highest level.
When you feel better you are better to everyone around you. Your relationships will improve, you will be more calm and relaxed, and, therefore, less reactive, less moody, and less impatient.
Self-care isn’t just “another thing” to focus on. It is THE THING to focus on.
